AESS economia sustentavel

Three days ago, we celebrated Women's Day, so this month's blog theme is about Women and Money.

And why this topic? As with professional and personal life, it is not always easy for a woman to manage her personal finances, which are often confused or mixed up with the family finances. In this context, it is difficult to maintain a balance between income and expenditure, manage the balance at the end of the month, contribute to the household economy, identify the best investments for each profile, and even have sufficient control to avoid getting into debt.

The habit of managing money is more important than the amount of money you have. It is much more closely linked to prosperity than to how much you earn each month. How can you spend wisely, save and invest to secure your future? How can you create conditions that will benefit your family in the future and help them realise their dreams in the present?

These and other questions arise whenever a woman wants to achieve financial independence. But what does this actually mean? Being financially free means, among other things, being able to take a long break from work and still enjoy a peaceful and tranquil life in many ways, with a great sense of satisfaction and personal fulfilment.

Being financially free means having the autonomy to live without worrying about your bills and finances, being able to do whatever you want, whenever you want, and for as long as you want...

And how can we take control of our finances within our reality?

Start by identifying your financial profile: controlled, economical, spendthrift, or unbalanced? In last month's article, we wrote about financial profiles and how to identify each one.

Manage your personal finances at any stage of life. It has been proven that the earlier you learn to manage money, the easier it is to internalise the methodologies and the easier it becomes to create financially healthy habits.

Invest in yourself! This is undoubtedly one of the biggest secrets to financial independence. Constantly dedicating yourself to your studies, staying informed about current events and the financial market, knowing the best investments, how to organise yourself to save, and becoming increasingly specialised in your career are all ways to work towards your own growth.

Life is full of surprises, and we need to be prepared for them. To be ready for big changes, whether professional or personal, you need to be financially organised!

“With money we can buy many things, but not what is essential to us. It provides us with food, but not appetite; medicine, but not health; joyful days, but not happiness.”

Henrik Johan Ibsen
